Setting up gantt charts
Visualise task timelines directly in a project task list.
Where to find it: List view → Customize → Columns Who can access it: Anyone who can customize a task list
A Gantt chart turns a date column into a timeline. Each task appears as a horizontal bar, so you can see duration, sequence, and overlap at a glance.
Use it when a due date alone does not show the full plan. It works well for onboarding plans, renewals, and other multi-step customer work.

Before you start
You need date fields for the task timeline:
A start date field
An end date field
Or one date field, if tasks only need a single point in time
Add these fields to the task bar header. This makes them available in the column configuration.
Set up a Gantt chart
Open a customer and select the relevant project.
Open the Tasks tab and select List view.
Click Customize in the top-right corner.
Select Columns.
Find the date column and click Customize.
Set Display type to Gantt.
Select the start and end fields for the timeline.
Configure the timeline
Column type
How the timeline is divided, such as one column per week. Use Week for most sprints.
Time range
How many periods the timeline shows. Match this to your planning horizon.
Graph start
How far back the timeline begins. Include recently completed tasks when context matters.
Cell size
The width of each timeline column. Use smaller cells to show more time. Use larger cells for easier scanning.
Start field
The custom date field that defines when the bar starts.
End field
The custom date field that defines when the bar ends.
If you track only one date, select the same field for Start field and End field. The chart then shows a single point instead of a duration.
Troubleshooting
A task bar does not appear
Make sure the task has values in both selected date fields. Also confirm that both fields are available in the task bar header.
A task bar appears as a single point
The Start field and End field use the same custom field. Select separate fields to display the task duration.
Common use cases
Onboarding: See task dependencies and overlapping work across the delivery timeline.
Renewals: Plan milestones backward from the renewal date.
Customer projects: Spot schedule conflicts before they delay the project.
